How to install vinyl siding? | |
Vinyl siding is made of PVC – the same type of a plastic material is used for example in windows. The advantages of vinyl siding include low maintenance – as it is a durable material it will not rot or flake, and the appearance – the scratches on it will not show because of the fact that the panels come in various colours and the whole colour is solid throughout. This also means that the vinyl panels need not be painted, but simply washed with sponge and water every once in a while.
For installing vinyl siding you will need no special tools – you can cut the vinyl by using inexpensive cutting tools you can find in your local supermarket.
Installing vinyl siding is also easy – even you can do it!
- vinyl siding is usually placed over the wall sheathing;
- special corner posts are used to cover the ends of the panels in corners;
- the panels should be lined all around the house to avoid unevenness on different sides;
- the panels should not be pinned on too tight – they should move back and forth a bit as they tend to expand and contract as the temperature changes.
