How to install wooden siding? | |
Siding is used to protect your house from the rain and the moody weather in general. It is also a good way to make your house look exceptional. One of the most used sidings is wooden siding. Your house looks naturally beautiful and is protected at the same time. Wood siding can last tens and tens of years if you provide it with maintenance every once in a while. Usually the siding is created by attaching boards horizontally to the wall sheathing, whereas each board overlaps the previous one. But it is of course not impossible to apply the boards vertically or even diagonally if wanted.
- If you buy boards, which are specially created as siding boards, they are ready to install, but if you buy simple untreated boards, you may need to treat the boards with preservative before installing them;
- When attaching the boards to the wall, you will need a hammer – always use a piece of wood between the hammer and the board to avoid damaging the board;
- The board may be of any type of wood, also plywood may be used as it is not as expensive as solid wood;
- Always consult an expert before you start to work as different sidings may need special instructions.
