How to install siding on wood? | |
• Install batten and board style siding by stapling some felt on the entire wall surface.
• Starting from your center and work out, attaching an inch by 8 inches boards, 1/8 of the inch apart to make room for expansion, making your way out to every corner of your house. Follow up the process by sealing these 1/8 inch seams using 1-inch by 4-inch or 1-inch by 3-inch batten boards. Do be generous while nailing your wide boards using galvanized siding nails, and with finish nails install the batten one all seams going downwards to the side of your house.
• Finish your edges using a single 1/6-inch batten board that runs to the corners. Doing this to all the sides of your house will create a batten and board look.
Install Classic Horizontal Beveled Board
• Install the classic bevelled horizontal board by installing the entire felt first.
• Start at the bottom and attach the siding, while making sure to put galvanized nails through your boards’ top edges.
• With another board, rest it into place at the bevel. Continue the method until the whole wall is completed. For walls which are longer than your beveled board’s length, remember to stagger your vertical lines, like a bricklayer with bricks. Lay siding seams closely together, to eliminate the incidence of vertical seams when possible.
