what are the manufacturer specifications for nailing | |
I need to know the manufacturer specifications for nailing off of 12 lap siding. Masonite siding to be exact. I have a city inspector that says he thinks that we are suppose to nail every 16 inches on center along the bottom edge / { the reveal?} this to me is ridiculous since it would look like hell and also presents a weatherization problem ? does it not? what arer the actual requirements or recommendations for nailing off. I nailed these particular pieces at 24 inch O.C.'s with double flat head galvanized under the lap itself.

most recommend nailing on every stud but there are special rules for vinyl siding like you must nail in the center of the nail slot also you should leave 1/8 to 1/4 inch between the nail head and the siding because the vinyl must be free to move on the wall if vinyl siding is properly installed you should be able to slide any piece back and forth on the wall
