i have wood siding on my house.
the last paint job was so bad, it started to peel off in 2 years.
i found a contractor to re-paint it. but his suggestion was to cover it with aluminum siding. his reasons are as follows:
1. even if they scrape off the old paint as best as they can, the remaining paint will soon peel off taking the new paint with it.
2. woods shrink & expand according to the season, so even they did caulking, it i will crack between woods within a few years.
3. so, if i want to have trouble free siding, cover the old wood with new aluminum or stucco siding.
is he right about this? i inted to hold the house for 4~5 years and sell it.
is there any way we can paint it and have it last for 5 years?

your contractor is suggesting a solution that is long term. it may be costly at first but it will surely last until such time you decide to sell the house. re painting it will only last for another two years which you had experienced. the best id to he
