siding?

i live in a area that many of the homes are brick veneer.(north carolina) my home was built around 1950 and its brick doesnt look to bad, except for a few small cracks in the brick work from settling over the years. i really like to cover this brick with vinyl siding to give it a newer fresh look, but i was told it will cause my house to actually lose value, please give me a idea on what to do.

thank you danny of sanford nc

the best you can do is to restore the house according to its material in order not to lose its value. restoration using the same material may be costly now but your house will still look authentic thus retaining its high value.
