I have vinyl siding on my house and some of it needs replacing.Where do I find old replacement siding? | |
The siding is white and appears standard. So no problem right - wrong it appears it doesn't have the same system as newer siding. It is about 15 to 20 yrs. old. Where do I find such siding? Or how do I repair it with newer siding. A few cracks and broken peices here and there. Definately do not want to replace all of it.

1Look around your basement, attic and garage. When we finish a job, left over material is stored somewhere around the property for just this case. There should be a bundle or two of shingles laying around from your last roof installation, a box of tiles if you have ceramic anywhere, and a box (or at least some pieces) of siding. It's just a matter of finding it, if it hasn't been tossed. The reason these are left behind is, not only to have extra if you happen to need it but, these types of materials are usually no good for the contractor to keep as they come from different dye-lots and even though the product may be exactly the same with the same product code, won't match a different dye-lot.
The best places to look is up in the joists in the basement and in the attic of the garage. If this doesn't help, Herr Bag's idea is pretty good also.
